Samudra – An Ocean of Musical Traditions

Samudra – An Ocean of Musical Traditions is a multidisciplinary production that explores water as a symbol of life, emotion, and cultural connection. Premiering in celebration of Singapore’s 60th year of independence, the work reflects the nation’s multicultural spirit through original compositions inspired by Indian, Chinese, Malay, and Western musical traditions. The performance takes audiences on a journey from the sacred rivers of the Himalayas to the maritime landscapes of Southeast Asia, blending traditional instruments, contemporary soundscapes, and live sand art.

I had the opportunity to serve as the Stage Manager for this production. My role involved calling cues with precision using the musical score, coordinating standby calls, and ensuring that musicians and vocalists were ready for each transition. This production strengthened my ability to manage timing in music-driven performance and work closely with a diverse ensemble of artists.
